SierraPictures > Golden Gate Bridge
San Francisco California. One of california"s most famouse landmarks, the total length of the bridge is 1.7 miles, width is 90 feet and the height of the main tower is 746 feet . there was 80,000 miles of galvanized steel cabel used, thousands of cubic yards of cement and tons of structural steel used in constructionof this bridge. It all began January of 1933 and went on until april of 1937. The color of the bridge is Orange Vermillion ( international Orange) and is an ongoing task, as it is the primary maintenance job in order to protect it from the high salt content in the air. The bridge was completed and opened to pedestrian traffic on May 27 1937 and the following day to vehicular traffic. It is truly a remarkable work of architecture and a sight to see.
